October 2026

  • Energy price cap changes

    From 1 October to 31 December 2026, the energy price cap for a typical home is £1,723 a year. The cap limits the price per unit and the daily standing charge, not your total bill.

  • No VAT on electricity

    There is no VAT on electricity from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027.

  • Warm Home Discount reopens

    The Warm Home Discount reopens in October 2026. It takes £150 off the electricity bill of people who qualify, and most people in England and Wales get it automatically.
